Total Eclipse

What an awesome sight! What a great party.  If you were not able to attend the party at Immaculate Conception, we hope that you were able to view the total eclipse from somewhere.  This was, as they say, a once in a lifetime event! :)
Now what do you do with those eclipse glasses now that the once in a lifetime event is over?  Donate them!  Astronomers Without Borders will take used eclipse glasses and provide them to schools in South America and Asia to be used when eclipses cross their continents in 2019!  Mail your gently used eclipse glasses to:  AWB Eclipse Glasses Donation Program, Explore Scientific, 1010 S 48th Street, Springdale, AR  72762.  Or find a drop-off location nearby.  An interactive map showing drop-off location is available at http://astronomerswithoutborders.org

TOTAL ECLIPSE!  TOTAL PARTY!

Come watch the Total Eclipse
with us at
Immaculate Conception Church
on Monday, August 21, 2017!
11:45 a.m.-???
Here Comes the Sun
!

Come join us for a place in the sun.  The anticipation of watching this once in a lifetime event surrounded by our parish family and friends and sharing a dish of ice cream makes us feel like walking on sunshine.  Bring your own pair of protective "Eclipse Glasses" so that you won't be blinded by the light.  Regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, will not protect your eyes from the sun's rays!   (If you don't have a pair, there will be a limited amount of glasses available here at the parish.)

The Solar Eclipse will begin at 11:49 a.m., reach totality at 1:18 p.m. and will end at 2:45 p.m.  All are welcome to join us at the Immaculate Conception Pavilion beginning at 11:45 a.m.  Ice cream will be served at 12:30 p.m.  Stay as long as you like.

You should also bring a lawn chair or blanket, and perhaps some sunscreen and a hat.  Maybe you'll even want to pack a picnic basket or cooler and bring some lunch to go with your ice cream!

Fr. Ebert is working on a music play list appropriate for the occasion.  Ain't no sunshine when you're gone, so please let the sunshine in and stop by to watch the Total Solar Eclipse at Immaculate Conception!  Don't let the sun go down on me!

Eclipse glasses are available at most local retailers and many convenience stores as well as at your local Chamber of Commerce office.
